Native Indian Baskets Yucca Sotol Double Weave Lidded 2 pcs.

Description

In this lot are two vintage handwoven baskets possibly from the Tarahumara people of North Western Mexico?  They are both double woven, in excellent, very tight condition. No warping, splits, stains. The larger footed basket is two tone with light and dark yucca/ sotol 4 1/4" x 5''. The smaller lidded basket appears older, the exterior a soft light brown patina, the interior and protected lip a slightly lighter brown. A finer, thinner weave than the larger one, 4 1/4' x 2 1/2' tall. Both are excellent examples of skilled weaving by these indigenous artisans
