Hollow Stem Auger HSA rebuilding welding Positioner
PRICE OF STEEL IS GOING UP!!! SAVE MONEY REBUILDING THOSE WORN DOWN AUGERS!
Custom built for build up and hard face welding process.  As show it is ready to use for 3-1/4" hollow stem augers held by the inside diameter.  For larger augers bushings would be required,  machine has enough swing for i believe up to 8-1/4".
POSITIONING MACHINE ONLY! no welding equipment or bench included.
The traveling carriage is adjustable  for mig gun position. Adapter is for Bernard guns. Control box has a switch to turn the contactor wire fead on, turn motor on and also a foot pedal to jog the rotation.  Gear box is reversible . Counter weight to keep carriage in tight contact with auger flight.
It was set up to use with 2 seperate feaders and one power source.  Solid wire in one for build up and flux core 045 hardfacing wire in the other speed up the process.
Shown is a deuce or 2 foot auger in position with the tail stock adjustable. Spring loaded copper ground in the tail stock for constant solid ground when rotating.
Last pictures show a finished auger that was worn down about 1" off the flights. Its was wrapped on edge with 1/4" × 1/2" flat bar, fully welded both sides and the hardfaced saving  a auger that most people would have scrapped.
If your a driller and have spent time rebuilding augers the hard way, this.is a time saving piece of equipment.   I started rebuilding hallow stem augers in the late 1980's and the prices for new augers has gone up like everything else.
