The fireplace door will be larger than the fireplace opening, resulting in overlap. The amount of overlap will vary depending on the size of your opening. An easy way to determine how much overlap you will have is to subtract your opening dimensions from the finished dimensions of the door. For most fireplaces you will want at least 1" of overlap on either side and at least 1" overlap on top. If the amount of overlap is 1/2" or less you may have fitment issues. The Alexander fireplace door can be installed very easily. The only tool you need is a Phillips head screwdriver and a level. Installation is straightforward with the two lintel clamps that attach to the angle iron across your fireplace opening. On each side at the bottom of the frame you have two sets of screws to hold the frame in place. Insulation for an air seal install is provided.
